Popes Intentions NOV 2025 FOR THE PREVENTION OF SUICIDE Let us pray that those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts might find the support, care and love they need in their community, and be open to the beauty of Life.
Pope Francis
The great danger in today’s world, pervaded as it is by consumerism, is the desolation and anguish born of a complacent yet covetous heart, the feverish pursuit of frivolous pleasures, and a blunted conscience. Whenever our interior life becomes caught up in its own interests and concerns, there is no longer room for others, no place for the poor. God’s voice is no longer heard, the quiet joy of his love is no longer felt, and the desire to do good fades. This is a very real danger for believers too. Many fall prey to it, and end up resentful, angry and listless. That is no way to live a dignified and fulfilled life; it is not God’s will for us, nor is it the life in the Spirit which has its source in the heart of the risen Christ.
The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness.
With Christ joy is constantly born anew.
Feast Days – 3rd Dec – St. Francis Xavier St. Francis Xavier was a Spanish missionary born in 1506. When he was 19, he moved to Paris to study and become a university professor. In Paris, he met Ignatius of Loyola and was inspired to serve God. He who helped found the Jesuit order and travelled to Asia to spread Christianity. He worked as a priest in places like India and Japan, living among the poor and baptizing thousands of people. He died in 1552 on an island off the coast of China while trying to reach the mainland.
Powerful Prayer to St. Francis Xavier. Great Saint Francis, well-beloved and full of charity, in union with you I reverently adore the Divine Majesty. I give thanks to God for the singular gifts of grace bestowed on you in life and of glory after death, and I beg of you, with all the affection of my heart, by your powerful intercession, obtain for me the grace to live a holy life and die a holy death. I beg you to obtain for me … (mention your petition). But if what I ask is not for the glory of God and for my well-being, obtain for me, I beseech you, what will more certainly attain these ends. Amen.
A Prayer for our Parish. Heavenly Father, Bless our Church and our parish, And all the good work that goes on in them. May all who are Christians live and work together for the good of each other and the glory of your Name. May those who do not know you be brought by our example to a loving knowledge and peace with you. Amen
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SURVEY – HAVE YOUR SAY. The current Department of Education survey on the future of patronage in the primary sector is important in that it will shape the discussion on primary school divesting for the years to come throughout the Republic of Ireland. The survey is school specific and needs to be responded to by all parents and prospective parents locally. It is important that those who wish for a change in patronage would have their voice heard. It is equally important that those who wish for a Catholic education for their children, and the support for sacramental preparation available in Catholic schools, would have their voice heard also. For those reasons and to ensure that an accurate picture emerges, please participate in this survey if you are a parent or a prospective parent of a Primary school student. The survey can be accessed at www.gov.ie/primaryschoolsurvey/. It closes on Tuesday, December 16.
The Wonder of Creation Coral reefs are living structures Though they look like rocks, coral reefs are made up of tiny living animals called coral polyps.
CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHINGS “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” St Catherine of Sienna
Prayer for November Lord God, whose days are without end and whose mercies beyond counting, keep us mindful that life is short and the hour of death unknown. Let your Spirit guide our days on earth in the ways of holiness and justice, that we may serve you in union with the whole Church, sure in faith, strong in hope, perfect in love. And when our earthly journey is ended, lead us rejoicing into your kingdom, where you live forever and ever. Amen

Feast Days – 22nd November – St. Cecilia, Virgin & Martyr. Saint Cecilia probably lived in the second or third century, and tradition says she died about 177 AD. Although details of her life may be unknown to us, Saint Cecilia was one of the most revered early virgin martyrs of Rome, as evidenced by her name appearing in the Roman Canon of the Mass. She is the patron Saint of Music and Musicians.
Prayer to Saint Cecilia O glorious St. Cecilia, virgin and martyr, you won the martyr’s crown without renouncing your love for Jesus, the delight of your soul. We ask that you help us to be faithful in our love for Jesus, that, in the communion of the saints, we may praise Him twice in our song of rejoicing for the Blood that He shed which gave us the grace to accomplish His will on earth. Amen.
Minister of Eucharist November 2025 Church of Our Lady Blessington SAT 6PM: Mary Fenton & Pat McGrath SUNDAY 10AM: Charmaine Quinn & Catriona Cullen.
Popes Intentions NOV 2025 FOR THE PREVENTION OF SUICIDE Let us pray that those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts might find the support, care and love they need in their community, and be open to the beauty of Life.
CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHINGSAuthentic social peace is possible only if we strive for justice through dialogue, forgiveness and reconciliation. Pope Francis, Fratelli Tutti
The Wonder of Creation Butterflies can taste with their feet Their feet have taste sensors, so they know if a leaf is good to lay eggs on just by landing on it.
Amen

Feast Days 11th November – St. Martin Of Tours, Bishop November 11th is the feast day for St. Martin of Tours, a Roman soldier who became a bishop and is known for his generosity, particularly for famously sharing his cloak with a beggar. He was born around 316 AD in Pannonia (modern-day Hungary. He is considered the first non-martyr to be honoured as a saint and is the patron saint of France, as well as being a patron of other countries and professions. In Ireland, the day was also known as “Martinmas” and was associated with traditions like the sacrifice of a goose and a ban on certain labour, like turning wheels. He died on Nov 8th 397.
Prayer of St Martin of Tours Father, by his life and death Martin of Tours offered you worship and praise. Renew in your hearts the power of your love, so that neither death nor life may separate us from you. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
