Feast Days – 14th July – St Camillus do Lellis. 1550-1614, St. Camillus, a rough-tempered and a gambler in his early life as a soldier, he was converted at the age of twenty-five. Guided by St Philip Neri, he became a priest and worked for the sick with two companions. His Servants of the Sick prospered and founded hospitals especially where others would not go. St Camillus is the Patron of nurses, hospitals and the sick. 16th July – Our Lady of Mount Carmel Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a title of the Virgin Mary associated with the Carmelite Order, originating from the hermits who lived on Mount Carmel in Israel in the 12th century. The Carmelites, who dedicated their chapel to Mary, considered her their patron and “Lady of the Place”. The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, celebrated on July 16th, commemorates her connection to the Carmelite Order and the tradition of the Brown Scapular.
A Prayer to Our Lady of Mount Carmel O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my Mother.
Prayer to St. Camillus de Lellis Glorious Saint Camillus, special patron of the sick and those who care for them, turn your merciful eyes upon those who suffer. Grant to the sick, Christian resignation and trust in God’s goodness. Make those who care for the sick generous and dedicated. Help us understand suffering as a way to God. May your protection comfort the sick and their families and encourage them to live together in love. Bless those who dedicate themselves to the sick, and may God grant peace and hope to all. Amen. St. Camillus, pray for us.
