First Communion Requirements

Dear Parents / Guardians

All candidates wishing to receive their First Communion must be Baptised.

If your child was Baptised outside of this Parish, you will need to provide a Baptismal Certificate from the Parish where the Baptism took place.

For candidates planning to make their First Communion in 2026 who are not yet Baptised, it is essential to contact the Parish Office

 as soon as possible.

Parents wishing for their child to receive First Communion in 2027 must ensure their child is Baptised no later than 1st May 2026

The Annual Mass of Harvest Thanksgiving will be held in Lacken church Sat Oct 25th@ 7.30pm.

Feast Days – 15th October – St Teresa. St Teresa was the originator of the Carmelite Reform, which restored and emphasized the austerity and contemplative character of Carmelite life. St. Teresa was elevated to doctor of the church in 1970 by Pope Paul VI, the first woman to be so honoured. 17th October – St Ignatius of Antioch. Ignatius is well known for the seven letters he wrote on the long journey from Antioch to Rome. Five of these letters are to churches in Asia Minor; they urge the Christians there to remain faithful to God and to obey their superiors. 18th October – St Luke, EvangelistSt. Luke was, in Christian tradition, the author of the Gospel According to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, a companion of St. Paul the Apostle, and the most literary of the New Testament writers.

November Remembrance Mass will take place on Friday 14^th November at 7pm in the Church of Our Lady Blessington.

Blessington History Society  are hosting a talk on Thursday 16th October at 7.30 pm in the Coimin Centre. The talk will be given by Diarmaid Russell Historian, and tells the story of General Sir Bryan Mahon, Neil Plunkett O’Boyle and the burning of Mullaboden House, situated between Ballymore Eustace and Naas, a WW1 veteran, and the hunt for an Anti-Treaty IRA unit.
