Lakeshore Striders Medal triumph at the Wicklow Athletics Off Road Championship. The West Wicklow Club sent a strong contingent across the gap to compete in the inaugural Wicklow Athletics 10km trail race on Saturday 20^th August. A tough course with a 300m+ climb through Derrybawn Woods, brilliantly marshalled by host Glendalough AC. The Lakeshore ladies increased the club medal haul with Sarah Byrne taking gold in the under 35 section, club secretary Deirdre Grogan took gold in the F50. Blessington’s Niall McHugh claimed silver in the M35-49. Lakeshore Striders attracts members from towns & villages across West Wicklow with sessions, in Blessington, expertly coached by Shane Connolly. New members are always welcome! PATHWAYS: EXPLORING FAITH AND MINISTRY. Application is now open for the next intake of participants for Pathways. The programme, run by the Dublin Archdiocese, begins this year on Thursday, September 29^th in DCU St Patrick’s Campus. Places are limited so early application is advisable Pathways is a two-year, one evening a week course, for adults of all ages who wish to explore their faith. It runs from late September to May each year, with breaks for Christmas, Easter and mid-terms. There are no exams and no written work. The only requirement is an openness to listening to others and to participate. The cost is €400 per year which may be paid in instalments throughout the year. World Youth Day – Lisbon 2023. Parishes & Individuals are now invited to register their interest in either attending WYD Lisbon or organising a parish group to participate. Over the past year many parishes & people have noted in submissions for the Task Force & also preparatory meetings on Synod the importance of reaching out to younger people. World Youth Day will take place from 1^st to 6^th in August Lisbon 2023. Package options and costs are still being determined and the registration system will open in September. At present it is intended to have the option for teenagers aged 16-18 to participate as well as those aged 18-29. The Archdiocese of Dublin has a great tradition in participation at World Youth Day. This is a great opportunity to reach out to young people & connect them to young people in many parishes that will participate at WYD.

The family of the late Brian Kane, Blessington Abbey, would like to express their sincere & heartfelt thanks to our relatives, friends & neighbours for their expressions of sympathy & many gestures of support & kindness shown to us during Brian’s illness & following our sad loss on the 17th of July last. We wish to thank our family, friends, neighbours & well-wishers who attended the wake, funeral Mass & burial at Burgage Cemetery. For those who sent cards & messages of condolences as well as those who made charitable donations, we are truly grateful. We wish to extend a special word of thanks to the doctors & nurses of the Oncology Unit of St. James Hospital & Naas Hospital for the care shown to Brian during his illness. We also wish to thank the doctors & nurses of Naas Hospital, Solas Room, for the wonderful care, kindness & respect shown to Brian and us, his family, during his final few days in their care. For all those who participated in the funeral Mass & burial, especially Fr. Richard & Deacon Gerry & for Tony & Regina Clarke for their sensitive & efficient handling of the funeral arrangements.  To all those who helped in any way, your contribution made our loss more bearable.  As it would be impossible to thank everyone, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

A new collaborative Art Exhibition is opening on 6^th July in Baltinglass. Two local Art Groups, Cruthu Art Group & The Glen Art Group have come together to present this new exhibition. All the artists taking part in this show are living & working in the locality – a vibrant art making community that is working in an innovative and authentic way. A big thank you to Eamonn Horan of Horan’s Bar & Restaurant, Main Street, Baltinglass, who are the host for the show. The exhibition is open on Wednesday 6^th July from 6pm to 9pm. And from Thursday 7^th July to Saturday 9^th July from 12 noon to 7pm. The Art on display, will feature painting, mix media, photography & jewelry from ten local artists all diverse & interesting, as these artists excel when working in their own particular medium & style showing their unique talent. The opening evening for this show will include a “reading” Aisling Creegan of her new book “I am Someone”. Everyone is invited to come along and support your local artists.
