This year, more than ever, your help is needed to make sure that children & families have what they need to share in the magic of the season. The Annual Church Collection will be held on Sunday 11th December, to raise funds for those who are struggling to manage this Christmas.

Message from Archbishop Dermot Farrell – The Covid-19 pandemic has been a particularly difficult time for those who have lost loved ones and have often had to cope with their grief without many of the usual spiritual and community supports. To pastorally support everyone who has suffered the pain of bereavement during the pandemic, and in the context of the month of November as the traditional time when we remember our dead, on next Sunday, 14 November at 3.00pm, the Bishops of Ireland will undertake a pilgrimage to the International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine in Knock. The bishops will concelebrate Mass for all those who have died in our country during the pandemic, and for their families. At the Mass the bishops will also offer prayers of thanksgiving for all those who so selflessly sacrificed so much during the pandemic.  This Mass will be live-streamed on knockshrine.ie  and broadcast on the RTÉ News Now digital television channel and online.  The bishops invite everyone to join with them in prayer on this solemn occasion.

The Catholic Church throughout the world & in Ireland is beginning a series of conversations about what God wants of his people at this time.  These conversations are often referred to as a Synodal Process. “Synodal” comes from a Greek word which means “walking together”. On Sunday 17th October  we mark the opening of the Synodal Process entitled: For a Synodal Church, Communion, Participation & Mission.  This Synodal Process coincides with the start of the two-year Synodal Pathway for the Catholic Church in Ireland which will lead, in time, to a National Synodal Assembly in Ireland.  www.catholicbishops.ie/synod     www.synod.va

The Folk Group in Church of Our Lady Blessington has been singing at masses continuously for 25 years until Covid silenced us in 2020. We are currently preparing for our return once restrictions allowing singing in church are lifted. We are looking for new members – singers & musicians, especially guitarists to join us in the singing.  A recent survey found that singing in a group or choir is good for your physical & mental health. So, maybe you would consider joining us. We meet for 90 minutes once a week, & we sing at mass every second weekend. We also do some special occasions like, Christmas, Easter, Cemetery Sunday etc. It is a good way of meeting people, getting out of the house & catching up on the local gossip as we are a very social group.  If you are interested, please call Declan: 086 806 3436 or contact the parish office.
