We will be running an induction session shortly. During this course we will run a full CPR/AED training session & have a Q & A session where you will be given the opportunity to ask what exactly is involved & expected of our volunteers. Successful/suitable candidates will be offered one of the limited places on a full days CFR training session to be held late in the year. Candidates must be:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and in good health
  • Live within 5km of the centre of Blessington
  • Have own transport & able to provide letter from insurance company confirming that their policy

covers your activities as a CFR

  • Willing to complete all online courses required by the National Ambulance Service including but not limited to Children First & Critical Incident Stress Management
  • Willing to provide cover on a rostered basis including weekends & nights
  • Be willing to be Garda vetted
  • Willing to attend monthly training sessions (Min 10 per year)
  • Complete & comply with all required National Ambulance Service policies
  • Complete all required BCFRU paperwork

Wicklow Mountains National Park: Nature & St Kevin Walk, Sunday 29th September. Join National Park Guides for a gentle walk in the beautiful valley of Glendalough. We will visit some of the sites associated with St Kevin, sharing the stories about his connection with nature & discussing possible meanings behind the stories, weaving them with current conservation concerns. Meet outside Glendalough Visitor Centre (Eircode A98HC80) on Sunday 29th September at 10am. Approximately four hours including a break. Adults only. Wear footwear suitable for rough terrain & clothing suitable for wet weather.  Please leave your dog at home. The family of the late Michael Kennedy wishes to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy & gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss. We offer our heartfelt thanks to family, friends & neighbours who attended the funeral home, funeral mass & burial & those who sent mass cards, we thank them sincerely. We would like to thank Fr Kevin Lyon & Deacon Gerry Malone for the lovely mass they provided.  A special word of thanks to Ashley Lodge Nursing home, Co Kildare for their dedication & loving care shown towards Michael. Lastly, I would like to thank Clarkes Funeral home for their professional service & support during this sad time.  As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.   • A physical disability or illness (aged 11-30)
  • A learning disability (aged 11-30)
  • A serious illness up age 11 (accomp by a parent/guardian)

The Blessington Community First Responder Unit was setup in 2005. It is a 100% voluntary group providing near 24/7 quick response to a range of Respiratory and Cardiac related emergencies in Blessington and the surrounding towns within a 10K radius. Without the public’s support and the support of local businesses, this unit would simply not be able to continue. Every penny raised goes back into the unit for the good of our community

A Date for your Diary A Week of Guided Prayer from 29th Sept to 5th October. This is a way of making a retreat in the midst of our busy day.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part. The structure is simple. It begins on Sunday evening with a group introduction to the format of the week; some explanation of Praying with Scripture; some time in prayer together; meeting your personal guide; a chance to ask any questions…and share some light refreshments together!!  Each day you are asked to spend time in prayer and then come to the parish each day to talk about it with a trained Prayer Guide for half an hour. These one-to-one sessions run from Monday to Friday at a time convenient to you. The week ends with everyone coming together to share their experiences. Next weekend there will be speakers at all the Masses to further explain what is involved and who will also answer any queries you have about it.  Information leaflets and Registration Forms will also be distributed.

The Crosscare Annual Collection for Community, Homeless & Youth Services will take place in all churches next weekend 31st Aug & 1st Sept.  Last year Crosscare saw almost 1,000 people accommodated in their homeless services & at the same time they helped 78 families & over 100 individuals move into their own homes.  Through their food banks & meal services, over 175,000 meals were distributed to those in need and 14,000 parcels of food were delivered to families. Over 4,000 young people were supported through Crosscare’s Youth Work service through voluntary youth clubs & summer projects. 400 teenagers & their families found the help & support they needed in Teen Counselling.  Please help Crosscare to continue with this vital work in our parishes. The Community Pool for West Wicklow Committee would like to thank everyone who attended our family funday in Russborough House last Saturday & helped to make it a huge success. The Community Pool for West Wicklow Campaign is a year old and we are having a PARTY! Come help us celebrate in the Hippodrome at Russborough House on August 17th from 1pm to 4pm. This is a FREE family event to thank the people of West Wicklow for your support. We’ll have face painting, music with East Coast FM, dancing, games with Wicklow Local Sports Partnership, water safety tips from Water Safety Ireland and of course cake!

Use your own device or use computers available at some venues. Age Action runs beginner courses in Computers, iPads and Tablets for older people who have little or no experience or for the absolutely terrified! Courses run once a week for 5 or 6 weeks.
