It supports missionaries who work alongside communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. By supporting Missio, the Pope’s charity for world mission, you will help missionaries like Sister Veronica build peace in Nigeria and share the love of Christ with those most in need. Please pray for the mission of the Church throughout the world & give what you can to this very important collection which will sustain the future of our Church. The Catholic Church throughout the world & in Ireland is beginning a series of conversations about what God wants of his people at this time.  These conversations are often referred to as a Synodal Process. “Synodal” comes from a Greek word which means “walking together”. On Sunday 17th October  we mark the opening of the Synodal Process entitled: For a Synodal Church, Communion, Participation & Mission.  This Synodal Process coincides with the start of the two-year Synodal Pathway for the Catholic Church in Ireland which will lead, in time, to a National Synodal Assembly in Ireland.  www.catholicbishops.ie/synod     www.synod.va

The Folk Group in Church of Our Lady Blessington has been singing at masses continuously for 25 years until Covid silenced us in 2020. We are currently preparing for our return once restrictions allowing singing in church are lifted. We are looking for new members – singers & musicians, especially guitarists to join us in the singing.  A recent survey found that singing in a group or choir is good for your physical & mental health. So, maybe you would consider joining us. We meet for 90 minutes once a week, & we sing at mass every second weekend. West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival ‘Winter Weekend’ The West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival‘s inaugural “Winter Weekend”, will take place from 12th to 14th November at Russborough. The Committee of Lakeshore Striders would like to congratulate the 200 participants in last week’s lakes10k. The winners were Sergio Ciobanu (30:57) & Maria McCambridge (35:49) The 1st Striders home were Stephen Pettigrew & Sarah Byrne, with personal bests everywhere. Many thanks to our amazing volunteers: marshals who spent a long time at various junctions & those manning registration, water station & bag drop.  Thank you to Blessington Educate Together for the use their grounds. The Samba Band provided a great atmosphere before the race. The muffins were most welcome at the finish line!  Each participant received a medal, & everyone was delighted to be in an actual race again.
