Sacraments

Baptism

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation and the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith. Through the pouring of water and the words “I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” a person is welcomed into God’s family and into the life of the Church. It is a joyful and sacred moment for families and for our whole parish community.

We warmly welcome families who wish to have their child baptised. Please contact the Parish Office to make arrangements. Baptisms take place in Church of Our Lady, Blessington, on the first Saturday of the month, and in St Joseph’s Church, Valleymount, on the third Saturday of the month. You will be invited to attend an evening information meeting in the Coimín centre beforehand.

Please complete only after making a request for baptism through the parish office
on 045 865 327 or by emailing admin@blessington.info

Adult Baptism (RCIA)

Adults who feel called to become Catholic are invited to take part in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This is a gentle journey of prayer, learning, and community which prepares candidates to receive Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. Anyone interested, or simply curious to learn more, is very welcome to get in touch with the Parish Office.
