11am Saturday May 30th, Blessington
Confirmation is the sacrament in which the gift of the Holy Spirit, first received at Baptism, is strengthened and deepened. Through the anointing with sacred chrism and the laying on of hands by the bishop, candidates are sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened to live as committed disciples of Christ.
Confirmation deepens our belonging to the Church and equips us to witness to our faith in everyday life. The Spirit gives courage, wisdom and guidance, helping us to take our place more fully in the life and mission of the Church.
In Ireland, young people usually celebrate Confirmation during the later years of primary school. Preparation takes place in partnership between home, school and parish, with families encouraged to support regular prayer and participation in Sunday Mass.
